Description
We are delighted to be able to offer you another rising star from our stallion collection. Thanks to our collaboration with the van Dijk stud, the owners of the exceptional stallion Ermitage Kalone, we now also have their greatest young prospect in our programme: Riesling van't Roosakker.
The nine-year-old Belgian by Comme il faut x Echo van't Spiefeld x Carthago has already enjoyed success with Gilles Thomas in Nations Cups and Grand Prix at 1.50m level, thus following directly in the footsteps of his stablemate, Ermitage Kalone.
Gerd Sosath is absolutely delighted: “Such an athletic stallion with the right attitude, and then from the successful Comme il faut out of the famous Moosakker line – he fits perfectly into our stallion collection, not only for our own mares but also for those of our breeders.”
Origin
Riesling van't Roosakker’s sire, Comme il faut, won the World Cup show jumping event in Madrid in 2016 with Marcus Ehning, the Vienna Grand Prix (1.60m), and the Paderborn Grand Prix (1.50m) in 2017. He has achieved top placings on numerous occasions at international level (Oslo 1.60m; Helsinki Grand Prix 1.55m; World Cup qualifier in London 1.55m). In 2015, he finished second in the Nations Cup and third twice in international show jumping over 1.60m (Rome, Rotterdam). In 2018, he won, among other things, the Grand Prix of Brussels (1.55m) and the GCL leg at Chantilly (1.55m), and was part of the German championship squad. In 2018, he sired the German Champion of 5-year-old show jumpers, Chao Lee, as well as the Reserve German Champion among the 6-year-olds, Daddys Destiny.
Comme il faut’s sire, Cornet Obolensky (Marco Kutscher/GER), won Grand Prix and Nations Cups and is one of the most successful sires of the present day.
Comme il faut’s dam, Ratina Z, was Ludger Beerbaum’s star horse. Together they won the Olympic team title in 1996, the World Team Championship in 1994, and two European Championships in 1997, as well as the World Cup Final in 1993 and the Aachen Grand Prix in 1996. Following her competitive career, she produced, alongside Comme il faut, the equally licensed Crown Z by Carthago, who was successful at 1.60m, as well as the licensed stallions Rex Z (by Rebel I Z) and Treasure Z (by Dollar de la Pierre), both of whom were successful in 1.50m show jumping.
Comme il faut’s half-sister Calipa Z by Cor de la Bryère produced Camilo LS la Silla, who was successful at 1.55m under Jeroen Dubbeldam, out of Portofino (Montebello la Silla). With Caretano, Calipa Z produced the licensed full brothers Chicago Z (1.55m with Bruno Passaro) and Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z (1.55m with Julia Kayser).
Ratina Z’s granddam Heureka Z (Hermann Schridde) was regarded in her day as the world’s most successful show jumping mare and founded a new show jumping dynasty in Zangersheide.
Comme il faut’s offspring have enjoyed international success. Nearly 120 of his offspring have reached the advanced level. Comme Prévu’s three-quarter brother Comilfo Plus (Christian Ahlmann) finished fifth at the 2015 World Championships for Young Show Jumpers and has since placed in international 1.45m show jumping competitions. Checker (Christian Kukuk, 1.55m), Comme Laude W (Bart Bles, 1.55m), Chao Lee (Katrin Eckermann, 1.55m), Caramba and Carlchen (Richard Vogel, 1.50m), Chandor (Matthias Janßen, 1.55m) and Commander Bond (Harm Lahde, 1.55m) are further internationally successful offspring. Over 40 of his sons have been licensed to date.
