- bay
- *2012
- 169 cm
Description
Herakles - the beautiful, blood marked Catoki offspring impresses with rideability, his own sport successes in the heavy class and a particularly good hereditary performance. To his offspring, he passes on fluid, scopey jumping with outstanding quality and the chic type. From his first, very small crop (twelve mares), three stallions were directly approved for KWPN and DSP. The premium stallion at the licensing in Munich was described by the licensing judge Andy Witzemann as the "almost perfect horse from a jumper's point of view".
Gerd Sosath says: "Herakles reminds me a lot of his sire Catoki. Both are similar to ride - both in daily training and in the course. I find the quota of his first crop, when he was still at home in Holland, impressive. Three absolute top stallions out of twelve inseminated mares."
Herakles was licensed in 2015 at the main licensing of the Dutch KWPN Association in s'Hertogenbosch. At the age of 5 he won a show jumping competition at the World Championships for young show jumpers in Lanaken. He was victorious at the international show in Opglabbeek and was crowned Vice Champion of the 6-year-old stallions of the KWPN Verband. He successfully completed the entire tournament series and was second overall in the important 2017/2018 stallion competition. In 2019, Herakles placed at S-level and qualified for the Bundeschampionat for 7-year old show jumpers. In 2020 and 2021 Herakles placed several times in 1,40m classes. In 2022, Herakles was able to secure the reserve victory in advanced (1,45m) level show jumping and numerous placings in the advanced class.
Origin
Herakles' sire Catoki was highly successful in international show jumping. He started his career with Gerd Sosath, winning the Grand Prix of Rastede, among others. Later he won World Cup jumping competitions, Nations' Cups and Grand Prix with Philipp Weishaupt. He is also particularly outstanding as a sire. He produced numerous 5* horses such as Catch me if you can (Laura Klaphake, Team Bronze World Equestrian Games 2018), Contanga (André Thieme), Keoki (David Blake, IRL), Cool Down (Ludger Beerbaum), Clueso (Jörne Sprehe) or Cadora (Sosath family).
On the mother's side, the modern stallion descends from Landor S (sire of numerous nationally and internationally successful horses) and the Holstein foundations sires Corofino and Landgraf I. Landor S is bolstering his profile as a top sire of international sport horses. Before retiring from the show ring, Landor S was an outstanding sport horse. He was "Bundeschampion" of 6-year-old jumpers in 1997 and was later named Oldenburg "Sire of the Year" and victorious in show jumping classes up to 1.50m. Though Landor S himself was a talented jumper, his greatest legacy is that of his offspring. There are countless numbers of extremely talented horses from Landor S and he has proven time and time again that he is capable of producing champions.
His younger sister Latissima (*2017) by Clintissimo was a brilliant ring mare in Rastede and has won several elementary class show jumping competitions.
The full-sister of Herakles' dam produced the licensed Lissabon by Lordanos. Cara Come On and Calypsa are successful on S-level show jumping classes and examples for sport horses out of the dam line.
Herakles comes from the Holstein dam line 5331.

Offspring
Several Herakles sons were presented at the pre-selections of the Southern German associations and the KWPN, all of which received approval. Herakles' few offspring at this age are already convincing with their outstanding quality. In free jumping they show a powerful canter and skill at the jump.
At the DSP Stallion Days, the presented young stallion by Herakles x Zirocco Blue x Corland, who convinced with sensational free jumping, was named premium stallion. This stallion became 2022 reserve winner of his disposition test with a score of 8.36. Andy Witzemann, internationally successful show jumper and licensing commissioner, said about him:
"From a jumper's point of view, almost the perfect horse. Very, very reminiscent of Catoki: lots and lots of ability, reflexes and calmness about him."
St. Georg wrote on Jan. 20th, 2022:
"A very nice horse, this Oldenburg stallion! Light bay with blaze, pretty face and big eye. He made a friendly, gentle impression and was also an absolute eye-catcher in terms of athletic ability. In the row after initial uncertainty he was steadfast in the rhythm with a lot of overview. Especially in the back he was technically very good. Fluid jumping with a lot of ability."
