Donkey Amour
- German Sporthorse
- dark bay
- *2022
- 167 cm
Description
Donkey Amour impressed both the licensing committee and the expert audience at the DSP Stallion Days in Munich-Riem in 2025. He was awarded premium stallion.
Dressage inspector Jörg Schröter describes him accurately:
“We see here a particularly sympathetic and, above all, incredibly beautiful horse, a horse that impresses with his basic gaits, but above all with his very good interior, his lively eye and his composure.
A special aura paired with this powerful and elastic trot movement away from the ground was extremely impressive. The good walk must be emphasized, particularly ground covering, very clear in rhythm, equipped with good forward and over stride. Here we see a really consistent horse with a special charisma.”
Gerd Sosath is delighted with the new purchase: "When I was at the licensing in Munich, this stallion impressed me from day one. As we market the sire Donkey Boy, I always had a special eye on him and was not disappointed. I was able to watch him live and was impressed by his three outstanding basic gaits and his friendly appearance. His still youthful type offers a lot of potential for the future. The purchase of the premium stallion at the subsequent auction was the highlight of the weekend in the south. He will certainly be an excellent match for our breeders' mares."
Origin
Sire Donkey Boy was named "Stallion of the Year" by the Danish Warmblood Horse Breeding Association in 2023 and won Intermediaire II and Grand Prix under Anne-Mette Strandby Hansen in Skårup Fyn in 2022. He placed at the World Championships for Young Horses three years in a row and won the bronze medal in 2016 under his rider Jan Møller Christensen and the silver medal in 2017. Christensen and Donkey Boy also made history by winning the Danish Young Horse Championships four years in a row (2016-2019). At his licensing in 2015, Donkey Boy was premium stallion and won his stallion performance test the following fall.
Donkey Amour's dam Sonnenschein S was herself successful up to advanced (S) level and won medium (M**) level dressage competitions. In combination with Floriscount, she produced Flashlight S, who is already successful in tests for young dressage horses.
Dam's sire San Amour was the main premium winner and is trained up to advanced level. He has produced almost 50 licensed sons to date. Over 40 of his offspring have competed at Grand Prix level, including Honoré du Soir's sister Soiree d'Amour OLD.
The third sire Cabaret has proven to be a versatile sire, Campari, for example, competed in dressage up to Intermediaire I, Catalina was successful in CCI3* eventing and Casta Diva in 1.45 m show jumping.
There is a connection to the show jumping blood through the fourth dam Debuet (1.30m), as well as the fourth sire Campari M, who was successful in advanced (S) level show jumping.
