In Memoriam: Casiro

With great gratitude and deep connection, we say farewell to Casiro, an exceptional stallion who shaped our sport and breeding history for many years.

Casiro was a horse with a remarkable personality—easy and reliable at home, determined and full of presence in the arena. Above all, he was one thing: a true partner you could always rely on.

Casiro was not only an important sire, but above all an outstanding sport horse. For many years, he competed successfully at the highest level of show jumping with Gerd, Hendrik, and Janne Sosath. As a young horse, he already achieved success with Gerd in young horse classes, at the Bundeschampionat, and at the World Championships for Young Show Jumping Horses in Lanaken. Later, under Hendrik, he proved himself in international sport, impressively demonstrating his enormous scope by winning his first puissance class with a jump over a 2.10 m wall.

Janne competed Casiro successfully in numerous S-level show jumping classes over many years. In their final active competition season together, they crowned their partnership with a victory in the puissance competition at the Elmloher Reitertage.

In breeding, Casiro leaves behind an impressive legacy. His offspring are successful worldwide up to 1.60 m level, including Lady Corlina, Casirus, Casino, Castelan, Cantario, Centrino, Coraggiosa, C’est Sue B, and many others. They not only shine in top international sport but are especially valued for their rideability, mental strength, and outstanding character—qualities that have also made them popular with young and amateur riders.

His progeny have become national champions and medal winners in show jumping, eventing, dressage, and hunter competitions across the globe.

Thank you, Casiro.
For the years we shared. For your offspring.
You will never be forgotten.
