Don Bolero was licensed in 2003. However, because of his impressive results in sports, he remained exclusively a competition horse.
Since 2003, he has been on the Australian national team, was nominated for the European championships in Hickstead in 2003, the Olympic Games in Athens 2004, the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, as well as the Olympic Games in Hong Kong 2008.
Don Bolero and his rider, Kristy Oatley, have competed at nearly all of the most important shows in Germany.
He unites every trait that breeders look for in a sire: a beautiful type, striking strength of character and three excellent basic gaits.
Origin
Don Bolero's sire, Donnerhall is a legend among dressage breeders, trainers, riders and admirers. With his rider Karin Rehbein, he was German master in Mannheim and world champion, with the team and single bronze medal winner, in Den Haag. In 1997, as another climax of a glittering dressage career, he won the team's gold and individual bronze at the European Championships in Verden.
In 1998 Donnerhall contributed to the gold medalist team of the World Equestrian Games in Rome, and he was fourth of the single evaluation and winner of the European league. More than 100 licensed stallions and nearly 200 state premium mares on all significant auction and breeding places testify to the ingenuity of the inheritance strength of this unique foundation sire.
Dam´s sire Bolero has influenced a whole generation of Hanoverian dressage horses and produced several national champions and top auction horses. Bolero has again proven his inheritance strength with the Olympic horses Bonaparte/ Heike Kemmer, Brentina/Debby McDonald and Beauvalais/Beatriz Ferrer-Salat. Futher, stallion champions like Brentano II and Buenos Aires, Baryshnikov, Beltain and Bismarck are all descended of Bolero. He is also a dam-sire, which is highly valued and can still be found in the pedigrees of many successful dressage horses.
Dam Bejou is a Hanoverian state premium mare and the half sister of the granddam produced Verdener auction foals and the premium stallion Stevie Wonder by Stedinger.
